I'm going to treat these "How To Metal Detect Tips and Tricks" posts as a sort of Metal Detecting 101 class. So if you know of any tips or tricks, please share them in the comments below because any class is more productive and more fun when there is a lot of class participation. Alright, let's have at it!
How to Metal Detect Tip #1:
When scouting a park or even an area of a park for old, keyword being OLD coin shooting, look at the
trees. Get your eyes out of the sky pardner and look at the root collars. The presence or lack thereof a root collar will tell you if there has been any fill dirt added. Fill dirt buries old targets, many times putting them out of reach of your detector, making the area unproductive for "old" coins yet still good for modern coins.
